CVWOC Jamboree 2010

BannerFans.com

Here we are with Easter 2010 approaching quite fast now, with our Swap Meet just two weeks away.

Our deliberations have begun for the Jamboree 2010 and very shortly the main website will be online again in a new format with a page dedicated to the Jamboree event as before.

We expect this year to be very exciting with a few more attractions to be found and an excellent line up for your entertainment. We have already confirmed the following:

Bands:

Friday           -        To be arranged

Saturday      -        Our old friends The Horse Band from Launceston – Party Night

Sunday           -       Sinpusher – 3 piece rock band -  Will be playing for the Air Guitar Competition

Our main party night theme for 2010 is Sci Fi so we hope to see plenty of space monsters, Star Trek characters and Klingons with perhaps a few Daleks for good measure, reckon we should warn ASDA and suggest they get in some extra tinfoil packs!   The Horse Band have promised to join in the fun too.

On Sunday we have decided to spice up the entertainment in the evening and Tijson, Mr T from the daytime sets last year has agreed to provide the music for our planned Air Guitar competition and is busily compiling a compilation of famous and well known Rock Guitar Riffs for the contestants to play along with. Make sure you come along with your make believe ’Axe’ and show us what yopu can do —— Prizes will be awarded.

Alan AKA The Belfast Busker is signed up to appear again and give you 4 sets of his well loved and enjoyed music. Lets hope it will be sunny again in 2010 and not very damp as it was in 2009, the final sets lacked a little something in 2009 its always nicer outside as folk seem to be less inhibited.

Tijson will be back again giving us 4 sets again in 2010 and will be sharing Alan’s equipment and working with him again. Ti is a very technically competent guitarist especially when he gets going with his 12 string. He will be back in the evening on the Sunday as the front man/lead guitar in the power rock trio known as Sin Pusher. You can find them on Myspace as they have a page there. Will be good to have a Rock band, should get things goling on the final night.

Richard and Nigel have agreed to organise the Show and Shine again this year so make sure your pride and joy is ready to go on display by August to give Nigel a headache trying to fit everyone in on site. We always have an excellent entry for our show and shine and as Richard says, it is actually a larger competition than that seen at the British Volkswagen Festival (BVF) and that is quite a feat to pull off don’t you think. We seem to have a hundred or more partidipants, year on year. Lets make 2010 an even bigger event.

We hope to see Tony Delight and his bucking bronco again but confirmation is awaited. Tony will not be coming, he is goint to Run to the hills in Derbyshire but should be back in 2011

Subject to confirmation there should also be another form of vomit comet on site in the shape of s two person gyroscope. Don’t fancy it myself but bet it will be very popular.

Here it is at the RTTS Show & Shine on 30th May

Trade stands will be there in profusion of course and we are already beginning to book them in. Too early to sy who exactly will be there but keep an eye out for updates.

The children will be well looked after of course with Alan, Mr Wacky attending again as too will Richard Reddy with his magic skills on display again. The Bouncy Castle man will be evident so lets hope dry weather will enable him to trade all day rather than shut down for health and safety reasons. Kellys will be there of course providing nice cole ice creams for the kids and the bigger kids too of course. The Cornish Radio Amateur Club is an accredited training and examination centre provider for the three levels of qualification available to become a licenced amateur radio operator. Graham, our trainer is fully CRB checked and accredited as required to work with young people and will welcome any enquiries anyone may have about our fascinating hobby. We hope to have a computer screen and digital communication communication modes in display this year along with our normal HF station and VHF equipment. With the sun spot cycle beginning to show signs of improvement visitors may be lucky enough to be sble to pass a greeting messages to another amateur perhaps in the USA and that would be good fun. Go on pop in and have a chat they won’t bite.

Pat has been working very hard to bring our range of merchandise available in the Club Shop up to date and there will be an excellent range available in August including new styled Tee Shirts, mugs and antenna balls to name but  a few items only.

Catering will be provided and will be varied ranging from the traditional Cornis Pasty to Pannini and of course the Burger Van for the staple chips, bacon and egg etc.

A full bar will be present in the marquee of course.

Booking forms will shortly be available from the Website,Blog, Ning and the Squidoo page

See you at one of the events in between no doubt.
